Reflection: David's Trials and God's Deliverance
In 2 Samuel 17-19, David faces betrayal, rebellion, and personal loss. Absalom’s revolt intensifies, but God provides deliverance through loyal followers like Hushai and Joab. David’s response to his son’s death shows his deep grief, but he ultimately acknowledges God’s will.
2 Samuel 17 sees Absalom’s rebellion reach its peak. Despite counsel to pursue David, Absalom's plans fail due to God’s intervention through Hushai’s advice. 2 Samuel 18 marks Absalom's death, and 2 Samuel 19 reveals David's mourning and the challenges of restoring peace within Israel. David's grief reflects his love for his son, despite Absalom's rebellion.
Psalm 113 praises God's greatness and His care for the humble. The psalmist declares, "The Lord is exalted... He raises the poor from the dust" (Psalm 113:4-7), highlighting God's sovereignty and mercy.
Prayer for Day 113
"Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in delivering David. Help us to trust in Your plan during times of trial and grief. Teach us to rely on Your mercy and to find hope in Your sovereignty. In Jesus' name, Amen."
