Week 20: 2 Kings 17-19 and Psalms 132-134
Congratulations on making it to Week 20!
This week, we’ll be following the final stages of Israel’s downfall, as the Northern Kingdom is taken into captivity by the Assyrians. We see the consequences of Israel’s disobedience and idolatry, but also God’s faithfulness to Judah, as Hezekiah seeks the Lord in a time of crisis. These chapters highlight the stark contrast between the faithfulness of God’s people and the rebellion of Israel.
We will also explore the importance of proper worship and unity in God's people through the Psalms, where the focus shifts to God’s faithfulness, presence, and the blessings that come with unity in worship.
As you read, reflect on how the choices of the kings impacted the spiritual state of their nations, and how God's mercy and justice go hand in hand. Consider your own life and the role obedience plays in our walk with God.

What’s Ahead:
This week, we delve deeper into the fall of Israel and the strength of Hezekiah’s faith, as he calls upon God in a moment of great crisis. We also begin the transition into Chronicles, which shifts focus to the genealogies and the preparation for Israel’s future. These readings are a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness to those who seek Him, even in the most desperate of times.
Prayer for Week 20:
"Lord, thank You for the lessons we learn through the reigns of Israel's kings and the faithfulness of those who seek You. Help us to remember that You are always with us, even in times of hardship, and that You are faithful to answer when we turn to You. May we always seek Your wisdom, remain humble in our faith, and trust in Your guidance. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
