Week 24: 2 Chronicles 34-36, Ezra 1-10, Nehemiah 1-6 and Proverbs 9-15
Congratulations on making it to Week 24!
This week, we focus on the final days of Judah’s kingdom and the return of God’s people from exile. In 2 Chronicles 34-36, we see the reigns of the last few kings of Judah, including the reforms of Josiah, followed by the fall of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile. These chapters emphasize the consequences of disobedience and the hope found in repentance and returning to God.
In the book of Ezra, we see the beginning of the return from exile and the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Ezra 1-3 covers the initial steps of restoration, while Ezra 4-6 deals with opposition and eventual completion. The theme of God’s faithfulness is prominent, as God moves the hearts of kings and people to fulfill His promises.
In Nehemiah, we begin the story of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and restoring the city’s identity. Nehemiah’s leadership and reliance on God’s wisdom help overcome obstacles and opposition. We’ll see how faithful leadership and prayer lead to success.
Throughout the book of Proverbs, we are challenged to pursue wisdom, understanding, and integrity. These chapters guide us toward righteous living, with a focus on the importance of practical wisdom in our everyday lives.

What’s Ahead:
This week, we explore the restoration of Israel after exile, both physically and spiritually. Through the leadership of Ezra and Nehemiah, we learn about the importance of faithful leadership, commitment to God’s Word, and the necessity of spiritual renewal. As we read Proverbs, we are reminded that wisdom and understanding lead to life and peace, and righteousness brings joy.
Prayer for Week 24:
"Lord, thank You for the restoration of Your people, both in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah and in our lives today. Help us to be faithful in our leadership and committed to Your Word. May we seek wisdom (chokmah) in every decision, relying on Your understanding to guide us. Give us courage and strength to rebuild what has been broken and to live faithfully for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
