Week 27: Job 19-36, Matthew 1-10, and Psalms 1-5
Congratulations on making it to Week 27!
This week, we continue our journey through Job, exploring the themes of suffering, God’s justice, and divine wisdom. As Job continues to question and wrestle with his situation, his friends provide explanations that fall short, and we see that human wisdom is not always sufficient to understand God’s greater purposes. In the end, we are reminded of the sovereignty of God and the importance of trusting in His wisdom, even when we don’t understand the reasons for our suffering.
In Matthew, we begin the life and ministry of Jesus, from His birth to the early days of His public ministry. These chapters provide the foundation of the Gospel, as Jesus calls His disciples, heals the sick, and teaches about the Kingdom of God. We will explore His teachings and the way He challenges us to live lives of humility, faith, and obedience to God.
In Psalms 1-5, we start with wisdom literature that sets the tone for the rest of the book of Psalms, encouraging us to meditate on God’s law, trust in His ways, and find our refuge in Him.
As you read this week, reflect on the difference between human wisdom and divine wisdom, the beauty of Jesus’ ministry, and the importance of trusting in God’s justice.

What’s Ahead:
This week we dive deeper into Job’s emotional journey, wrestling with questions about suffering and God’s justice, and also begin exploring the life and ministry of Jesus. We’ll see how Matthew emphasizes the arrival of the Kingdom of God through Jesus and His teaching on what it means to live according to God's will. As we read the Psalms, we’ll see that our response to God’s justice, teachings, and ways is one of worship, trust, and alignment with His wisdom.
Prayer for Week 27:
"Lord, thank You for the wisdom of Job’s journey and the opportunity to witness Your sovereignty in the midst of suffering. We ask that You help us to trust in Your wisdom even when we don’t understand our circumstances. Thank You for the example of Jesus’ life and teachings, and may we follow His example of humility, faith, and obedience. As we read the Psalms, help us to meditate on Your law, trust in Your ways, and find refuge in You. In Jesus' name, Amen."
